What does Certified Biodynamic Mean?

Biodynamic is relating to a system of farming that follows a sustainable, holistic approach.

Biodynamic Farming uses only organic, usually locally-sourced materials for fertilizing and soil conditioning, views the farm as a closed, diversified ecosystem, and often bases farming activities on lunar cycle, biodynamic practices.

To be certified as biodynamic, a farm already must be organic. When a farm is organically certified, it is inspected and evaluated by a third-party certifying agent like Demeter on how well it meets organic standards.

You can make your bit in your garden by only using organic approved sprays/ fertilisers etc or look for the certified biodynamic labelling to be as close to your food source as you can.
